Outside of their day job of helping connect consumers to brands, I think a lot of copywriters just really love to write. Some pen screenplays, some do journaling, others write poetry. Me? I like to write fiction. Below you’ll find my full-length novels and short stories. And maybe someday, other kinds of writings will find their way here. Like my political science senior thesis from 2003 (it won’t).

Bury your skeletons

Horror / 276 pages

Imagine being haunted by ghosts from a past that isn’t yours.

Paul Callahan is seeing visions of terrible, violent memories he's convinced aren't his. But as a recovering alcoholic, he can't be certain that they aren’t from a life he doesn't remember. And each vision ends the same way: with a mysterious visit from a ghostly skeleton. The monster has a mission for Paul, and it’s up to him to solve the mysteries and unravel a cold case that’s very much close to home.

Upcoming sequel to AN UNCERTAIN REVOLUTION

Currently writing. Hopefully finished by June 2025.

[Quick note: still working on setting up an online store where you can actually buy these. I’m also actively querying BURY YOUR SKELETONS in hopes of publishing the more traditional way. But if you really, really want to read one and don’t want to wait for the store of for an agent to fall in love, let me know and we can work something out. Thank you!]

[Another quick note: Craig Nordeen did all the illustrations and layouts for these books. He’s incredibly talented and kind. See for yourself: www.craignordeen.com.]

short stories

The Light Keeper is a cozy fantasy about a wizard who is just trying to make the sun set, but is interrupted by a trio of mouthy animals. Submitted to Forest and Fawn Retreats for a writing contest.

Spot’s in Danger is an unpublished comedic story I wrote for McSweeney’s. It’s about the two dogs from the children’s book Where’s Spot and how a concerned neighbor fears for their safety.

I Hear a Memory is a short, horror-ish story written for a class at The Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis. It started as a prompt asking us to write a scene about a metaphorical ghost. And I liked it, so I fleshed it out (no pun intended) and added it here.

Renaissance Festival is a fictional story written for the Writer’s Playground 10th short story challenge. It’s about the last stand of a former real estate magnate as he and a group of fanatics defend their home—a renaissance festival—against the U.S. government.

The Backup King is a short fantasy story about a wizard who struggles to keep up with his new life as he tries to fill some very important shoes. Submitted for a writing contest through NYC Midnight.
